The Morale InstituteMen's health research

Psychological health is health.

The Morale Institute studies men's mental health: isolation, the loss of work and role, family separation, and the communities men turn to when things go wrong. We publish what the evidence shows, and how sure we are of it.

Our research

We study how men experience psychological distress, where they look for support, and which social and economic conditions make things better or worse.

Our work draws on published literature, public datasets and aggregate analysis of public online discussion. Findings are published openly, with every claim graded by the strength of the evidence behind it.

How we handle data

  • We analyze data in aggregate. We do not build profiles of individuals.
  • We do not attempt to identify, contact or re-identify anyone in our data.
  • We never sell or share research data for advertising or commercial use.
  • Data is stored on access-controlled infrastructure and deleted on a published retention schedule.

Ethics review

Studies involving people are reviewed by an independent ethics board before any data is collected.

Our review process and study protocols will be published here.
